The concept of "Kitcho Arashiyama" was "memorable food and experience", and the founder, Yuki Teiichi, opened the restaurant in Shinmachi, Osaka, in 1930. Mr. Teiichi wanted to deliver the Japanese cuisine that he believed was a "speciality of the world" to his customers. In 1991, the main restaurant was relocated to Kyoto, and has expanded to a total of 4 restaurants. At the age of 20, third-generation Osakan chef Kunio Tokuoka decided to become a chef and trained at "Koraibashi Kitcho" and "Tokyo Kitcho" before being appointed executive chef at the head restaurant, "Kyoto Kitcho Arashiyama", at the age of 35. He offers an Omakase course that combines "Japanese cuisine" with "Japanese cultural experiences" to his guests.
